My Mum

My lovely mum died last Tuesday  Here are some pictures of her.

She joined the Wrens at age 17 and was a Plotter and a Bomb Range Marker during the last war.

This is the last photo I have of her which was taken in March.

She was born in 1926 and died on her wedding anniversary aged 85.  She was a remarkable woman and I shall miss her so terribly.

  2. Although we have not met, I am genuinely sorry to read that your Mum died last Tuesday. I think most ladies from that era are indeed remarkable as they contributed so much during the war. Your Mum was clearly a special lady.

Sorry it has been some time since I visited your blog. I have had some time away due to work commitments.

My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time. Abby xx

  6. What lovely photographs.
She looks so young in her uniform.

The pain will ease in time but the memories will go on forever.

  12. I have not posted here before, although I enjoy reading your lovely blog regularly, and so I want to offer my sincere sympathy on the loss of your Mum.

The heartache you feel right now will ease off as time passes, but the sense of loss never seems to go away. It is 6 years since my Mum died (she was of the same era as your Mum) and not a day passes without something reminding me of her. I still feel strongly she is not far away from me.

May the support of your family and friends give you strength during this sad time.

  15. Ruth I feel so bad.
I have not been blogging for a while and I back today to have a look though. I was enjoying all the lovely images so much.
    Then read this.
I am so very sorry. I know your loss, the pain, the tears, those songs....so many emotions that you feel. I feel them too.
I hope that you are getting stronger. It takes forever really.
I guess now you may be feeling really low. It hit me unexpectedly a couple of months after I lost my Mum.
    Sending you all my love.
