Give Away
Having been the recipient of three give aways I have decided to have one myself. Just leave a comment on my blog and the winner will receive a white on white embroidered cloth, pretty candlestick, a heart with vintage button, a linen and lace lavender sachet and a guest soap.

Crafty
I have been in a sewing mood today. It all started when I visited the local haberdasher's (now there's an old fashioned word). I treated myself to this book for 'Household Notes' as I liked the picture on the front.
and a mangle cloth bag.
I found this lovely edging when I was looking for something to put round the edge of a seat on a chair makeover I have been doing. I have bent a whole packet of upholstery nails so have decided to staple the fabric to the seat then use this to cover the staples.
This is what the chair looked like before. I have a pair and they will look perfect with my kitchen table.
I have also made a lampshade todayI haven't posted for a while. We went to Cornwall for the Easter weekend and I will leave you with a photo taken on Rock beach.

Parcels in the Post
The last two days I have received more interesting post than the usual rubbish that goes straight into the recycling bin. Yesterday I received my winnings from Sue at Vintage to Victorian - a piece of beautiful Scheurer fabric. Sue has blogged about these fabrics which date from the 1870s to 1930s. The Scheurer company was a famous European textile printer from Mulhouse in Alsace, France. If you visit Sue's blog you will see a slideshow of many of these fabrics.
In my excitement to open the package I forgot to photograph it before I ripped it open but here it is, even more gorgeous in the flesh than in the photo.
Thankyou again Sue, I love it.
Today I received two books I had ordered. I love Margaret Forster's style of writing and haven't read this one of hers so am anxious to get started on it. I also received the Cabbages & Roses Vintage Crafts book with instructions on making things for the home. I can usually manage to work out how to sew something but, of course, it is much quicker to actually have the instructions there in front of you.
