Mottisfont

Today we had a wonderful day out at the National Trust's Mottisfont in Hampshire. Having once been told off for taking photos in a National Trust house I only took photos of the gardens which are wonderful.

The Walled Garden was just beautiful with the scent of roses and lavender. There are so many roses still in bud and when they do flower they will be a spectacular sight.

We walked along the River Test where this swan was having a nice afternoon nap till we woke it up!

This is a graveyard for some of the dogs who have lived here. I think the ivy growing up the wall looks like a hand!

  3. What a wonderful place to visit. I am a NT member and love visiting their properties. I haven't been there yet and based on the information which you have kindly given, I will take Miss P there during the holidays. She'll love it, so will I.

The dog graveyard reminds me of when I was a child and came to stay with my Grandparents. They would take me to the park in Reigate and I recall that there was a small pet cemetery in the park. I haven't been back to Reigate for about 30 years...I wonder if it's still there...

    A lovely post
    Take care

  4. Who needs to take photos indoors anyway when there's all these lovely photo opportunities to be had outside. I must say at times to being quite intimidated by the people who work in these type of properties. It's almost as if I feel not worthy to be there!

I especially love the line of trees leading up to the house, and the hand-shape ivy (that was well spotted).

Having never been, I've really enjoyed looking through your photos of Mottisfont Ruth. x

  5. morning Ruth! Thank you for your comment on the blog. Looking forward to the fair today. I believe there is a big Brocante/market in Rennes every Thursday. I have it on my list of things I want to do... but have yet to be over there on a Thursday! Happy hunting! xxxx
