A host of dancing Daffodils

I had to take my car to the garage this morning and what a lovely morning on which to walk back home. On my way I passed this field of daffodils which reminded me of Wordsworth's lines,

'And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the Daffodils.'

I bought 4 bunches from the local farm along with some freshly cut rhubarb.

They also had a wonderful display of primroses

Now I just have to decide what to make with the rhubarb.......

My absolute favourite would be Rhubarb Crumble with Cornish Clotted Cream, but I'll settle for the healthier option of Stewed Rhubarb and Creme Fraiche.

  3. I wandered lonely as a cloud..
    is that the same poem?
The sunflower field photograph is really, really lovely Mummy, I'm midly annoyed that you've taken such a good picture, you can't be better at photography than me! Haha :)
I don't like rhubarb crumble but the picture in the spode bowl with the little cream pot makes it look very appetising!
Brilliant pictures Mummy, you have captured some nice colours. I'll have to keep hoping Matt hits the big time so I can be a lady of leisure like you and take photographs all day!

  4. I had to learn this poem off by heart as a child by a teacher who thought it was very trite and dismissive of it all but really how can you say trite describes:

"For oft when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood
they flash upon the inward eye
which is the bliss of solitude
and then my heart with pleasure fills and dances with the daffodils"

one of my all time favourite poems nad never fails to make me feel happy

  5. Doesn't the rhubarb look good in the blue and white. I love rhubarb crumble, but when I was little my auntie used to make stewed rhubarb for my cousin and me and we always had Royal Scot biscuits with it. I don't know that you can still get those - frighteningly it was nearly 50 years ago, although I don't consider myself to be a day over 21!
